PBRA Competition Highlights & News: Oct. 3rd

Oct 4, 2016 - 3:28 PM

ESP Rita & Irish Flynn Memorial is a wrap! Congratulations to all riders who put out a good showing this weekend as well as all parents for their continued support. It was also really great to see all of the young PBRA riders being supportive of one another in and out of the show ring this weekend, thanks to Myca Harris and Allison Pearson for the great photos. Barring the hopefully eastward moving impending storm, PBRA will be hosting an Open House in the Tiki Hut on Saturday, October 8th at 11:30. Come reconnect with the community, get information about the upcoming season, get fitted and order PBRA apparel and gear, and most importantly partake in some great food generously provided by Flakowitz!

In terms of the weather projected for next week and Hurricane Matthew – please know that we are watching the storm closely and will have a plan in place depending on the turn and severity of the storm. We will keep you all posted through the week, and should we need any extra helping hands throughout the process we will be sure to let you know.

Again – As a reminder, due to recent policy evaluations, we will now require a Parent, Guardian or Responsible Adult to arrive to supervise all children under the age of 16 by 6:30 pm on weekdays and 3:30 pm on the weekends. No child should be riding unsupervised, it is your responsibility to schedule your hacks during lesson hours or give/have parental supervision while participating in all mounted and unmounted equine activities.

Attached is this week’s schedule. As a reminder, Fall shots will be given Saturday afternoon, therefore following Veterinarian recommendations there will be no lessons on Sunday. Please let me know if you cannot make your scheduled time ASAP so we may do our best to accommodate a different time. As you can see our schedule is starting to fill up, therefore we need to be informed of any scheduling conflicts in advance. Thank you for your understanding.

Congratulations to the following horse and rider combinations for their accomplishments at ESP Rita & Irish Flynn:

Myca Harris & “Sandro Reuben” returned to the Modified Hunter division with a clean sweep of blues on both Saturday & Sunday, winning the warmup, all of the over fences, and the under saddle, earning Grand Champion of the division. Keep up the great work!!

Victoria Cabezudo and PBRA’s “Clovercroft’s O’Malley” made their first rated show ring debut together in the Walk-Trot division. This pair did fantastic in a large field of riders, earning a second two thirds and a fourth place ribbon. Can’t wait to see this pair continue to learn and progress together!

Gianna Garofalo & PBRA’s “Cruise” made their 12-14 Equitation debut together and took the ring by storm, earning Champion of the division, winning both of her equitation trips and her flat class. This pair also switched rings to compete in the Low Children’s Hunters, and did a great job, earning Reserve Champion, winning one over fences and earning top three in the rest of her over fences and second in the under saddle. We are so proud of how far you have come along – can’t wait to see you in action this season!

Reily Malt & Far Niente’s “Eye of the Tiger” made their show ring debut together, after both a hiatus from the rated show ring for almost a year and “Pancake’s” first time showing with PBRA and did an outstanding job! In the 12-14 Equitation, this pair earned a second and theirs over fences. This pair then gained mileage, in the Low Children’s Hunters, doing a fantastic job, earning top ribbons in a competitive field. Can’t wait to see this pair progress.

Casey Mangini & “Rushin'” returned to the show ring for the first time as a pair since WEF and proved they still got it! On Saturday they made a clean sweep of blues on the Low Children’s Hunters, winning both over fences and the under saddle. On Sunday this pair had an almost repeat performance, winning one of their over fences and the warmup – earning Champion of the division. Fantastic job!
