Wellington, FL – October 24, 2016 – Jessica Nichols Dever, Head Instructor at Palm Beach Riding Academy (PBRA), was initially surprised when she was presented with the Rita Flynn Memorial Trophy at the 2016 ESP Rita Flynn Memorial Show at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC).

The Rita Flynn Memorial Trophy is awarded to the trainer who best exemplifies Rita by being courteous and prompt. The recipient consistently sets an example by having their clients to the ring and prepared in a timely manner, whereby helping to keep the show running smoothly.

Nichols Dever and team operate the Palm Beach Riding Academy, which is located at the GDF Grounds of the PBIEC facility, offering lessons and competition opportunities for riders varying in experience levels and age. This is the first time that Nichols Dever was awarded with the Rita Flynn Memorial Trophy.

Jessica Nichols Dever of PBRA is awarded with the Rita Flynn Memorial Trophy presented by Karen Flynn of Tally Ho Farms at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.
“It feels really nice to be acknowledged by the professional community since I’ve only been here for four years and am still relatively new,” said Nichols Dever. “I try my hardest to catch more flies with honey than vinegar and I’ve found it pays off. People begin to notice your hard work and I’m very thankful for this opportunity.”

Nichols Dever started riding at a young age and was drawn to the program at PBRA, as it offered the same beginnings she experienced herself, fostering a love of horses and providing educational opportunities for children and families of any background.

“I try to give the kids that we have here the same thing that I was offered as a kid. I think this facility and program offers our students so much, maybe even more than what I was offered as a young rider, which is very exciting for the sport,” she continued.

Entering her fifth year this upcoming season at PBRA, Nichols Dever continues to embody the qualities that help to educate and prepare students for the ring, but also bring a lightheartedness and fun to a sometimes intense competition atmosphere.

“The slogan of our advertising is to ‘Make Riding Fun’ and I really think we embody that fully at PBRA. We do take our jobs seriously but there’s never any harm in throwing a little bit of extra fun into the daily routine of things,” she elaborated. “I always remind myself that a lot of these kids do this as an extracurricular activity and we try to market this program as one for kids with serious goals, but also not forget that the students and their families are choosing to do this.”

Equestrian Sport Productions (ESP) congratulates Nichols Dever on her hard work and commitment to PBRA and equestrian sport. Thank you for all that you do!
