The Great Charity Challenge
The Great Charity Challenge presented by Fidelity Investments® (GCC) was founded by Mark Bellissimo and his daughter Paige in 2010 as a way for the equestrian community to give back to Palm Beach County.
In the last eight years, the GCC has distributed over to $10.7 million to 220 Palm Beach County Charities.
The 2018 event will be held during the 4th week of the Winter Equestrian Festival on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.
Celebrating “Everyone’s A Star,” this family friendly night will offer free general admission and will feature Starsky, the event mascot. Equestrians will compete on behalf of 34 randomly drawn charities, while representing their favorite Hollywood Feature Film. At stake: a share of the $1.5 million dollar purse. All spectators are invited to attend dressed as their favorite movie characters as well.
Gates will open at 6:00pm with the first horse on course at 6:30pm.
Free off-site parking is located at the Adequan® Global Dressage Festival facility across the street at 13500 South Shore Blvd., with a free shuttle over to the PBIEC grounds. On-site parking at PBIEC is $20 per carload. Valet is $30.
The Great Charity Challenge presented by Fidelity Investments® is a relay style equestrian jumping competition with teams consisting of two junior/amateur riders combined with one Olympic or world-class rider. The 34 rider teams are randomly paired with 34 charities that serve Palm Beach County.
Some features of the GCC Event:
- 100% of all proceeds go straight to benefit charities
- The winning team of riders will be awarded $150,000 for its charity
- Every charity selected will win a guaranteed minimum of $15,000
- Not a selected charity for the Challenge? Don’t panic. Additional to the selected 34 teams, we hold random drawings and award grants to deserving charities.
The application process to participate in the 2018 GCC is open from October 15 through November 15, 2017. The drawing of the charities will take place in early December 2017 (TBD) at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. All participating charities are required to utilize 75% of their funds in Palm Beach County, so these donations directly impact the community.
