For Immediate Release
Wellington, FL – March 21, 2019 – Jeremy Nickel, founder and proprietor of The Vineyard House (TVH), an intimate wine estate focused on producing exquisite cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay in Napa Valley, recently joined the Wellington community. Nickel is a second-generation vintner and established The Vineyard House in 2003 as tribute to his late father Gil Nickel, founder of three of Napa Valley’s most acclaimed wineries: Far Niente, Nickel & Nickel, and Dolce.
Instilled in the company’s vision and driven by Nickel’s philanthropic spirit, 10 percent of all proceeds generated by TVH go toward causes that are dear to his heart such as building schools in rural parts of Senegal, Africa, and cancer research – the disease that took his father.
With roots now in Florida, Nickel approached the Great Charity Challenge, presented by Fidelity Investments® (GCC) to identify an organization that would align with his family values: integrity and passion. The GCC, a highlight of the 12-week Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), organized by Equestrian Sport Productions, has distributed $13.5 million to over 240 local organizations in ten years. From a pool of 400 applicants that applied to participate in this year’s event, TVH and the GCC joined forces to identify the lucky recipient of a generous grant.
“Excitement is an understatement!” said Nickel. “Wellington is an incredible community that has a lot of to offer and I am eager to join the community’s philanthropic efforts through the Great Charity Challenge.”

Place of Hope, a Palm Beach County based non-profit, received $17,000 in funding, thanks to the charitable donation made by TVH. The organization is dedicated to providing stable and loving family environments for children and youth who are hurting and their families.
In an effort to meet the desperate needs of the children, families, and child welfare system in our community, Place of Hope develops various programs and is the largest, most diverse residential children’s organization in South Florida. It serves 340 children daily.
Charles Bender, Executive Director of Place of Hope commented: “We are so thankful to benefit from The Vineyard House’s generosity and hearts to support abused children, homeless youth, human trafficking victims and families in transition. This partnership brings together two organizations that strive for excellence to produce results. We thank you for directly supporting the daily living needs of over 340 of our area’s neediest.”
Place of Hope’s level of distinction, as reported for the last three years, ranks it the number one rated nonprofit for Youth Development, Shelter, and Crisis Services in the nation by Charity Navigator.
“My father instilled the importance of passion and quality in everything I do,” said Nickel. “I intend on bringing those qualities to Wellington and to my new multi-discipline equestrian facility, To-Kalon Farm.”
“We are honored to have worked with Jeremy and the TVH team to identify the best way for them to make an impact in our community” added GCC Executive Director Anne Caroline Valtin. “We hope this partnership can inspire other businesses and families to see us as a resource for impactful charitable giving.”
